UK to put ‘AI into the veins’ of the country under prime minister’s plan

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has unveiled a detailed AI action plan comprising 50 recommendations from government experts. The initiative includes establishing AI Growth Zones and fast-tracking data center approvals to enhance innovation within the UK’s AI sector.

The plan outlines the development of a supercomputer capable of processing CHESS games at remarkable speeds and the creation of a National Data Library for freely available public data, essential for training AI models.

In a bid to compete with giants like the US in artificial intelligence, Starmer has urged swift governmental action. With a total investment commitment of 17 billion USD from leading tech firms, the UK’s ambition to enhance its AI landscape is clear.
