$2 billion lost to crypto hacks in Q1 2025, $1.63 billion from access control flaws

In the first quarter of 2025, the total losses from cryptocurrency hacks exceeded 2 billion USD, highlighting significant vulnerabilities within digital asset platforms.

The large losses were notably affected by the Bybit exchange hack, allegedly executed by North Korean hackers who are suspected of controlling over 11,000 wallets to launder funds.

The report underscores a critical need for stricter security measures as operational failures and access control weaknesses continue to jeopardize centralized and decentralized platforms.
