The Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP) has indicated that the growing demand for Bitcoin mining could outstrip the country’s energy production capabilities, potentially leading to grid failure by 2029.
Industries are encouraged to explore diverse energy sources beyond the current reliance on hydroelectric power from the Itaipu dam, which is becoming insufficient.
Despite increasing energy prices for mining companies, the government has been criticized for not adequately regulating the booming Bitcoin mining sector.
