VNG has officially appointed Kelly Yin Hon Wong as CEO effective May 20, succeeding his roles as Deputy CEO and CEO of VNGGames. With nearly 20 years of experience in various business sectors in Vietnam, VNG was founded in 2004 as Vinagame with initial capital of 15 billion VND, now exceeding 287 billion VND. Founder Le Hong Minh was Chairman and CEO since inception until early 2023 when he transferred the chairmanship to Vo Sy Nhan but remains CEO. VNG’s business mainly centers on online gaming, contributing 70-80% of revenue. In 2023, VNG reported a net revenue of 9.273 trillion VND, a 22% increase from the previous year, and a net profit of 302 billion VND. However, the company still reported a net loss of 1.180 trillion VND after tax, although this represents significant improvement compared to previous years.
