World Vision first nonprofit to trade crypto in South Korea after ban lifted

World Vision Korea has initiated cryptocurrency trading as the first nonprofit in South Korea following regulatory changes. The organization traded 0.55 ETH worth about 1,436 USD to support disadvantaged youth, highlighting a new compliance framework for nonprofits in the country.

As of June 1, 2025, South Korea’s Financial Services Commission allows nonprofits to sell crypto under strict regulations. Nonprofits need five years of financial auditing to conduct such transactions. This change reflects the growing interest in cryptocurrency, with over 16 million South Koreans reportedly holding crypto accounts.
