DOGE receives full access to Social Security data from U.S. Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on June 6 that DOGE can fully access Social Security data. This decision overturned a lower court’s restrictions, allowing access to sensitive information like Social Security numbers and medical records.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson expressed fears regarding privacy risks for millions of Americans, stating that the government was giving DOGE extensive access to personal data without assessing the legality of such actions.

The Trump administration justified the need for this data to tackle waste and fraud in government spending. Former DOGE chief Elon Musk pointed to issues within Social Security as a basis for the request.
