FTX users fight to unlock 2.2 billion USD in still-disputed bankruptcy claims

FTX creditors are disputing 2.2 billion USD in claims still awaiting decision. The FTX Recovery Trust has begun distributing over 5 billion USD, yet claims totaling 2.25 billion USD remain unapproved, with 30% of the allowed claims under scrutiny.

The FTX estate has reserves of 6.5 billion USD for disputed claims, with expectations of many being approved in the upcoming distribution. Timelines are unclear, particularly concerning Chinese claims, which represent about 8% of all claims.

Many creditors are experiencing delays and frustration due to KYC verification issues, which has hindered their access to recover funds. Some creditors have faced long waiting periods, raising concerns about the overall repayment timeline.
