The Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing to implement a new roadmap for using bioethanol gasoline E10 (containing 10% ethanol) nationwide starting from January 1, 2026, to gradually replace conventional gasoline. The Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) and the Vietnam Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) will pilot selling E10 gasoline from August 1. PVOIL will provide E10 RON95 gasoline in Hanoi and Hai Phong, while Petrolimex will trial at 36 gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City to assess the market. Mr. Cao Hoài Dương, Chairman of PVOIL, stated that the pilot aims to help customers get used to the new fuel and avoid shocks during the transition. PVOIL currently operates 900 gas stations and has plans to deploy E10 gasoline when the official roadmap is applied. Petrolimex, with a network of 5,500 stations, is preparing infrastructure and technology for E10 gasoline sales. E10 gasoline is considered an important solution for reducing CO₂ emissions and promoting the ethanol agricultural sector.
