Ripple CTO defends low XRPL volume, says banks settle off-chain

David Schwartz defended Ripple’s XRPL amid accusations of low activity and transparency issues raised by entrepreneur Andrei Jikh. He highlighted that institutional usage remains predominantly off-chain due to security and transparency concerns, coupled with a significant 30-40% drop in XRPL activity in Q1 2025.

Despite the decline in XRPL volume, Ripple plans to enhance transparency moving forward, even as it phases out its XRP Markets Report. Schwartz emphasized the potential for change as institutions begin to appreciate on-chain benefits, aiming to provide more relevant updates through official channels.
