Vietnam Airlines has opened several new international routes, especially a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Bali (Indonesia), making travel more convenient. As of June, the airline has increased frequency to 14 flights per week to Indonesia, with total passenger numbers between the two countries reaching 800,000, a 61% increase compared to pre-COVID levels. In 2024 and the first half of 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to open an additional 13 new international routes, increasing the total to 69 routes, contributing 60% to the airline’s total revenue, with international revenue in the first half of the year rising 10.6% year-on-year. New routes will connect Vietnam with countries such as Italy, Denmark, China, South Korea, and Japan. General Director Le Hong Ha emphasized that this expansion is to affirm the airline’s position in the face of increasing competition from low-cost carriers and international rivals.
