FCA to lift ban on retail crypto ETNs by 2025

On October 8, 2025, the UK Financial Conduct Authority will allow retail access to cryptocurrency exchange-traded notes (ETNs). This change aligns UK regulations with global standards, promoting broader market participation while establishing risk controls and disclosures.

Despite the lift in ETN restrictions, the FCA will maintain its ban on crypto derivatives to protect retail clients, highlighting ongoing volatility concerns. Bitcoin (BTC) continues to dominate the market with current valuations around 115,232.71 USD.
