Many businesses report zero profit compared to the same period in the first half of 2025

In the first half of 2025, numerous businesses reported a significant decline in profits compared to the same period last year, with some companies losing nearly 100% of their profits. Vinaship (VNA) and Nhà Từ Liêm (NTL) exemplify this, with pre-tax profits dropping from 35 billion VND to 400 million VND and from 844 billion VND to 12 billion VND, respectively. The main reasons for VNA’s profit decline were unfavorable market conditions and instability in supply, while NTL had no qualifying projects this year. Hòa Bình (HBC) reported a profit of 57 billion VND, down 93% from last year. The securities sector was heavily impacted, with firms like VDSC, Trí Việt Securities, and APG Securities reporting declines of 77% to 97%. Other industries, including manufacturing, investment, and electricity, also saw drops. Additionally, three companies reported significant losses: NSH Petro (loss of 332 billion VND), Novaland (261 billion VND), and Cảng Phước An (248 billion VND).
