On August 5, 2025, Hoa Phat officially operated Blast Furnace No.2 and RH vacuum refining furnace in the Dung Quat 2 Project. These furnaces were designed by SMS Group (Germany), with the BOF having a capacity of 300 tons/batch and a productivity of 9,000 tons/day. The operation of these furnaces is a crucial step toward bringing the number 2 blast furnace into operation, aiming to complete the entire project by September 2025. Dung Quat 2 has a blast furnace volume of 2,500m3, double that of Dung Quat 1, thereby saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions. Hoa Phat has signed contracts with European partners to provide technology and produce rail steel and shaped steel with a capacity of 700,000 tons/year. Since mid-June, the thick slab casting machine No. 02 has also been operational, with a productivity of 20,000 tons/day. The project focuses on producing high-quality HRC products for various industries. Upon completion, Hoa Phat’s steel output will reach 16 million tons/year, meeting 100% of the hot-rolled steel coil demand in the Vietnamese market.
