First time in Vietnam’s history, 10 banks have a capitalization of over 100 trillion VND

Vietnam’s stock market is currently experiencing a vibrant period, with the VN-Index rising nearly 390 points (+30%) to a record high of 1,654 points. The total market capitalization is around 9 trillion VND, with 23 stocks exceeding the 100 trillion VND mark, including 10 major banks such as Vietcombank, BIDV, and Techcombank. The banking sector dominates both in terms of quantity and weight, showing strong growth. Banks are focusing on credit growth and regulatory changes regarding required reserves. VPBank is planning to IPO its securities subsidiary this year, while many other banks are also investing in digital assets and blockchain technology. On the regulatory front, the State Bank of Vietnam is planning to remove credit growth targets from 2026, and is cooperating with international organizations to develop solutions in this sector.
