Solana’s Yakovenko urges Bitcoin to upgrade security against quantum risks by 2030

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, emphasized at the All-In Summit 2025 that Bitcoin developers must upgrade security to counter potential quantum computing threats. He estimates a significant risk within five years if no action is taken.

While Yakovenko highlighted urgency, some experts like Adam Back argue the threat is not immediate and enhancing Bitcoin’s security may be simpler than anticipated. Others believe the current focus should be on other challenges facing the Bitcoin network.
