Jimmy Song openly criticized Bitcoin Core developers for their decision to remove the OP_Return limit for non-monetary data in the Bitcoin Core 30 upgrade. He deems this a ‘fiat’ mentality and indicates it undermines Bitcoin’s integrity.
The decision has led to divisions within the Bitcoin community and increased popularity of Bitcoin Knots, an alternative node implementation. There are historical fears of repeating the block size wars that led to the creation of Bitcoin Cash in 2017.
