Fiji’s NAMLC has officially reiterated its ban on virtual asset service providers (VASPs), citing the high financial risks associated with cryptocurrencies. This includes concerns regarding money laundering and terrorist financing.
The council emphasizes that the anonymity and cross-border operations of cryptocurrencies pose increased criminal risks. Acknowledging its lack of regulatory capacity, NAMLC plans to reassess its stance as regulations and technologies evolve.
