Vingroup’s empire has only 37.3% female staff but female executives make up 59%, banks are a ‘sanctuary’ for women except for Sacombank

A report from 21 largest companies in Vietnam shows that while female employees account for only 37.3% at Vingroup, 59% of executives are women. The banking sector has about 60% female staff, with Sacombank being the only bank with a lower ratio (48.28%). A paradox is that many companies with a high percentage of women have lower female management ratios, exemplified by Masan Group with 62.4% women but only 43% in leadership roles. In contrast, Masan Consumer, with a lower female ratio (35.3%), has a higher female management share (almost 43%). Analysis shows that despite women constituting over 70% of the workforce, they hold only about a quarter of leadership positions due to the burden of family responsibilities. The International Labour Organization indicates that career opportunities for women in Vietnam still face significant inequalities.
