The Hong Kong Police Force has launched the Virtual Asset Intelligence Task Force (VAIT) aimed at addressing virtual asset-related crimes. Collaboration with financial regulators and licensed service providers is a core strategy.
In 2023, 1,463 virtual asset crime cases were reported, including 15 hacking incidents causing losses of approximately HK$1.29 billion. The task force aims to secure the sector through public-private partnerships.
