Ghana to implement cryptocurrency laws by December 2025

Ghana intends to introduce regulations for cryptocurrencies and virtual assets by the end of December 2025, as stated by Central Bank Governor Johnson Asiama during an IMF meeting.

Governor Asiama emphasized the necessity of strong supervision for crypto transactions, indicating that a regulatory framework and a bill have already been submitted to Parliament.

To support this initiative, Ghana is forming a specialized department to enhance its regulatory capabilities concerning cryptocurrencies.
