On October 20, the stock market faced a historic drop with VN-Index decreasing by 94.76 points (5.47%), down to 1,636.43 points. A significant number of large stocks hit the floor price, resulting in substantial losses for Vietnamese dollar billionaires. Specifically, Pham Nhat Vuong’s wealth decreased by 20.4 trillion VND (4.5%), with VIC shares falling to 194,900 VND/share. Other billionaires like Tran Dinh Long, Ho Hung Anh, and Nguyen Dang Quang also saw their wealth drop by 7%, totaling losses of 3.9 trillion, 2.1 trillion, and 1.9 trillion VND respectively. In contrast, only Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, the sole female billionaire, experienced the least loss at 400 billion VND (1%). According to Forbes, Pham Nhat Vuong lost 728 million USD that day, ranking 132nd globally with 18.3 billion USD, and becoming the biggest loser worldwide that day. The drop in wealth for the other billionaires was also noteworthy, with Phuong Thao losing 68 million USD.
