Solana to reduce validator entry requirements following Alpenglow upgrade

Solana plans to launch the Alpenglow upgrade by early 2026, aiming to lessen costs and entry barriers for validators.

As per Michael Repetny, CEO of Marinade Labs, the current cost to run a Solana validator is around 5,000 USD monthly, mostly from voting fees. The upgrade will help make validator node operations more affordable.
