A shipment of 700 tons of Vietnamese tilapia has been exported to Brazil, with JBS, the largest food corporation in Brazil, as the partner. The first 24 tons in the total order of 700 tons (32 containers) marks a milestone for Vietnam’s aquaculture industry in South America. JBS chose NAVICO after a thorough assessment, highlighting the company’s production capacity and professionalism. The fish will be distributed through JBS’s supermarkets and HORECA chains in Brazil.
The agreement to open agricultural markets between Vietnam and Brazil, signed at the 2025 BRICS Summit, facilitated this export. The Vietnamese ambassador to Brazil noted it’s one of the first results of the agreement, where Vietnam opens its market for Brazilian beef in exchange for tilapia and catfish imports.
This event is also significant as free trade negotiations with the MERCOSUR bloc advance and demonstrates JBS’s efforts in Southeast Asia with investments in meat processing plants in Vietnam.
