VinMetal has appointed Mr. Do Tien Si as CEO, replacing Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang. Born in 1967, Mr. Tien Si is the Vice Chairman and CEO of Pomina, with over 30 years of experience in the steel industry. Pomina, once a leading steel brand, is currently facing financial difficulties with a total loss of nearly 3.051 trillion VND. Recently, Pomina attempted and failed to negotiate with Nansei and THACO for capital raising. VinMetal was established in October 2025 with a charter capital of 10 trillion VND, aiming to develop a high-tech steel production complex in Ha Tinh with a capacity of 5 million tons/year, producing steel for construction and electric vehicles to reduce imports and boost exports. Vingroup aims to become a leader in green steel production and contribute to the development of heavy industry in Vietnam.
