SK Group has divested from Vingroup, Masan, and Imexpharm after several years of investing a total of $3.5 billion. Currently, the investment value stands at about $650 million, as SK realigns its strategy to focus on artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and electric vehicle batteries. An investment plan of 80 trillion won ($58 billion) in these new areas has been announced for 2026.
Specifically, SK sold its 9.5% stake in Masan, completing this by October 2025. At Vingroup, SK invested 23.3 trillion VND but plans to exit before August 2025. SK has also transferred all shares in Imexpharm to a Chinese company. These changes signify a major shift in SK’s investment portfolio in Vietnam.
Moreover, SK proposes to invest in energy and high-tech projects in Vietnam, especially LNG power plants in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An with a total investment of about $3 billion, aimed at promoting sustainable development in the energy sector.
