SK Group invested over 3.5 billion USD in major Vietnamese companies like Vingroup and Masan. However, due to a strategic shift towards chips, AI, and electric vehicle batteries, it has begun to divest, now holding roughly 650 million USD. SK plans to invest 58 billion USD in new technologies by 2026, using funds from divestments to strengthen indebted subsidiaries. Specifically, SK has sold all its shares in Masan and Vingroup, ending over seven years of partnership. Meanwhile, SK continues to propose investments in energy and high-tech projects in Vietnam, including an LNG thermal power plant in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, with total investments reaching up to 3 billion USD, expected to commence soon.
