South Korea’s cryptocurrency tax implementation faces uncertainty until 2027

The South Korean cryptocurrency tax system may face its fourth delay before its anticipated 2027 implementation due to unclear definitions regarding returns from airdrops, lending, and staking.

The absence of a taxation basis for overseas and P2P transactions raises concerns within the industry. As of H1 2025, around 10.77 million users have completed identity verification on domestic cryptocurrency exchanges.
