Harvard University’s Bitcoin portfolio reports a loss of approximately 40 million USD following market downturn

Harvard University’s Bitcoin investments have suffered a paper loss of approximately 40 million USD due to the recent market crash. The university increased its exposure to Bitcoin, bringing its total ETF holdings to nearly 500 million USD.

Bitcoin’s price has decreased over 20% this quarter despite a brief rebound. Selling assets earlier in October could have reduced Harvard’s losses significantly.

With total assets of 57 billion USD, the impact of these losses is minimal, as Bitcoin holdings constitute less than 1% of Harvard’s endowment.
