Hong Kong Monetary Authority issues fraud alert regarding fake website impersonation

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) issued a fraud alert on December 12 regarding fake websites that are using its logo to deceive users into engaging in cryptocurrency trading.

These fraudulent sites trick users into believing they must make advance tax payments before they can withdraw their funds, which is a common tactic used in scams.

The HKMA emphasizes that it does not reach out to individuals for financial transactions and does not solicit any form of payment or transfer.
