The Collection of ‘Vietnamese Luxury Brands’ Worth Billions in the Hands of Thailand’s Third Richest Man

Thai billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi has acquired Vinamilk shares worth over 6 trillion VND, increasing his ownership to about 25%. Vinamilk is considered a valuable asset, returning approximately 16.5 trillion VND in dividends from investments. Charoen has also executed several large deals in Vietnam, including the purchase of Metro Cash & Carry and controlling Sabeco for nearly 5 billion USD. Despite Sabeco’s current stock price being lower than when purchased, it still significantly contributes to the financial structure of the group. Charoen’s investments are not limited to production but also extend to packaging and real estate. Frasers Property Vietnam, a part of Charoen’s portfolio, is heavily investing in industrial real estate with multiple projects in Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, and Hung Yen. In Hanoi, the Melia Hanoi Hotel is a joint project with GELEX, demonstrating Charoen’s diverse investment strategy.
