Bitcoin dominance rising after four years of altcoin losses: understanding the end of the last alt season in 2021

2025 marked notable divergences in the market. Bitcoin, traditionally gaining post-halving, ended the year down 6%. Meanwhile, total altcoin market capitalization has faced four years of decline, signaling an end of the altcoin season.
