Japan’s finance minister declares 2026 as the beginning of digital asset era

Saki Katayama, Japan’s Finance Minister, officially declared 2026 as the ‘Year Zero of Digital Assets’ during a New Year ceremony.

She highlighted that establishing a solid exchange infrastructure is essential for the public to benefit from digital assets.

Katayama also pointed out the US trend of using ETFs as a strategy against inflation, suggesting Japan pursue similar strategies.

As the Finance Minister, she pledged full support for exchanges to foster a modern digital asset trading environment.
