NY prosecutors accuse stablecoin regulations of allowing crypto profiteering from fraud

On February 2nd, New York Attorney General Letitia James and others criticized the GENIUS Act for not adequately protecting fraud victims and allowing stablecoin companies to profit from criminal activities.

The letter points out that Tether arbitrarily freezes USDT transactions while Circle is accused of retaining stolen funds, creating a financial incentive to ignore law enforcement requests.
