Vietnam now has 8 billionaires according to the latest update from Forbes. The new entrants are: Pham Thu Huong ($2.2 billion), Vice Chair of Vingroup; Pham Thuy Hang ($1.5 billion), also Vice Chair of Vingroup; and Ngo Chi Dung ($1.1 billion), Chairman of VPBank. Pham Thu Huong is married to Pham Nhat Vuong, the richest person in Vietnam with a net worth of $21.1 billion, despite a $7 billion decline since the end of 2022. Meanwhile, many other billionaires like Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Tran Dinh Long also saw a decline in their net worth due to falling stock prices. On the positive side, Chairman of Masan, Nguyen Dang Quang, reported a $100 million increase in wealth due to a 7% rise in MSN shares since the beginning of the year. Forbes bases its wealth estimates on the number of shares and market value.
