Authorities freeze 3.5 million USD in cryptocurrency amidst Europol and DOJ’s disruption of ‘SocksEscort’ proxy network

Europol announced the successful disruption of the SocksEscort proxy network, which infected over 369,000 routers and IoT devices across 163 countries, facilitating more than 35,000 proxies for illegal activities.

The operation led to significant financial repercussions, with individual and organizational losses exceeding 1 million USD, as the service enabled cybercrimes including account takeovers in the crypto sector.
