FATF expands stablecoin oversight to secondary markets and peer-to-peer transactions

The Financial Action Task Force has shifted its regulatory focus on stablecoins away from traditional deposit and withdrawal monitoring toward tracking peer-to-peer transactions across personal wallets. The updated guidance requires stablecoin issuers to freeze illicit assets directly on-chain, expanding compliance obligations beyond on- and off-ramps to include secondary market activity.
