India expands cross-border settlement plans with neighboring countries

India has successfully reached agreements with neighboring countries Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Nepal to enhance its cross-border settlement plans. The country is also considering including the United Arab Emirates in this initiative.

In a significant move towards modernizing its financial infrastructure, India is exploring the use of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) as the primary settlement mechanism for cross-border payments.
