On January 8, 2026, Halong Canned Food Joint Stock Company submitted a letter to the Hanoi Stock Exchange to explain its involvement in the procurement of pork infected with African swine fever virus. Hai Phong Police have prosecuted 9 individuals related to the case, including those transporting over 1,200 kg of spoiled pork and approximately 130 tons of frozen pork. The defendants are charged with violating food safety regulations. Halong Canned Food asserted that the 9 prosecuted individuals are not company employees but external individuals. The company stated it cooperated with authorities to destroy the violated materials without putting them into production. Prior to this incident, the company’s stock dropped sharply by 10%, raising investor concerns. The company is taking measures to restore investor trust and manage the related risks.
