The XRP Ledger’s EVM sidechain launched on June 30, 2025. Within its first week, it attracted considerable attention, recording 1,400 smart contracts, indicating high developer interest in utilizing the XRPL for decentralized applications.
This sidechain incorporates the Wormhole protocol to enable cross-chain communication, enhancing functionality. It reportedly supports up to 1,000 transactions per second, bridging Ethereum’s developer tools with XRPL’s capabilities.
Ripple’s EVM sidechain is set to engage more developers, supported by validators, allowing XRP to compete with established platforms like Ethereum. This strategic move aims to evolve XRPL into a comprehensive blockchain ecosystem beyond mere payment solutions.
