The U.S. has imposed a 46% tariff on imports from Vietnam, leading to a significant drop in the Vietnamese stock market on April 3, 2025. Exports to the U.S. are crucial for Vietnam, reaching $119.5 billion, but only 2% of the revenue of listed companies on the HOSE comes from direct exports to the U.S. The total revenue of these companies in 2024 is about $111 billion, with 18% from exporting companies. The most affected industries include chemicals, consumer goods, food, steel, and construction materials, but they represent only about 5.5% of the total HOSE capitalization, indicating limited risk spread.
