25 Years of Capitalization Race

July 2025 marks 25 years since the inception of Vietnam’s stock market, which began with just two stocks in 2000. Over the years, especially from 2005 onwards, the market saw an increase in listed companies, with Vĩnh Sơn Sông Hinh (VSH) being the largest at 16 trillion VND in 2005. Vinamilk’s listing in 2006 significantly boosted market capitalization. The period from 2006 to 2009 saw many major companies enter the market, particularly after Vietnam joined the WTO. FPT, Vietcombank, and other banks have held top positions in capitalization rankings. By the end of June 2025, Vietcombank led with a market cap of 476 trillion VND. Currently, over 50 companies have a market capitalization exceeding 1 billion USD, reflecting the market’s strong growth.
