A ‘currency’ valued at 300 billion USD/year, the third most powerful in the world after USD and Euro: Vietnam Airlines is determined to exploit it

According to Evert de Boer, an expert from On Point Loyalty, loyalty points currently have an annual issuance value of 300 billion USD, making it the third-largest “foreign reserve” in the world after the USD and Euro. Nearly 60% of global companies are implementing such programs. He emphasized that loyalty points are not just marketing tools but also “a currency” that can be traded and optimized for profit. Airlines, like Vietnam Airlines through its Lotusmiles program, are focusing on turning loyalty points into financial assets that boost revenue. The airline also uses status strategies to attract and retain high-value customers, transforming loyalty points and statuses into “currencies” usable in everyday life. Vietnam Airlines strives to expand its collaborative ecosystem across various sectors, aiming to provide personalized experiences and build a positive community, focusing on the goal “Earn Everywhere, Redeem Anywhere.”
