A ‘liquid gold’ vessel will be brought to the $300 million Thi Vai port this month

The Thi Vai port in Vietnam, equipped for LNG carriers up to 100,000 DWT, is set to receive LNG vessel number 2 around April 19-20, 2025, with an expected delivery of 3.2 million BTUs, equivalent to 89.2 million Sm³. From early March to April 10, 2025, the system has consumed 75.9 million m³ of LNG, indicating a growing demand for LNG in electricity production. PV Gas anticipates a decline in domestic gas supply post-2027, emphasizing the need for strategic gas reserve planning. The 1 million-ton Thi Vai LNG terminal, constructed in 2019 with an investment of nearly $300 million, stands as Vietnam’s largest and most modern LNG facility, capable of handling 1 million tons of LNG annually, with plans to increase capacity to 3 million tons in the next phase.
