A Thriller Gone Real: Alleged scammer kidnapped by fake police, loses 50 million USD

Rodrigo Perez was kidnapped by individuals posing as police officers on March 24 in Brazil. They used an official-looking truck to transport him to a makeshift prison, where he was kept drugged and handcuffed for five days.

Perez escaped by drugging his captor and informed the authorities upon his release. One suspect, Ronaldo Batista, was arrested, while the other is still at large. Authorities suspect gang involvement due to Perez’s alleged financial crimes.
