Anza proposes Solana to replace SPL token with p-token, cutting computing overhead by up to 98%

On October 21st, Solana’s Anza team, led by developer 0x_febo, proposed the SIMD-0266 improvement to introduce p-tokens, which will improve memory management and reverse compatibility.

The introduction of p-tokens is projected to decrease computing unit usage from token instructions significantly, freeing up 12% of block space and bolstering transaction throughput, while new instructions will further enhance DeFi functionalities.
