Dennis Nguyen stole approximately 489,000 AUD from his customers after losing 20,000 AUD to a crypto scam. Employed at National Australia Bank, he utilized stolen customer data to create fraudulent accounts at Commonwealth Bank.
Nguyen chose his victims carefully, focusing on those making extra deposits on home loans. He successfully executed two significant transactions before NAB reimbursed the affected customers.
Nguyen was sentenced to 18 months in prison for fraud and theft, with parole eligibility coming in September 2024. The judge acknowledged his personal struggles but highlighted the serious nature of his actions.
