Bank of China to start paying interest on digital yuan wallets

The Bank of China announced it will pay interest on digital yuan wallets, aligning with state bank deposit rates starting January 2026. This initiative aims to promote the digital renminbi’s integration within the financial sector.

This move may influence the traditional banking landscape as digital currencies gain traction. With the current economic climate, monitoring responses from financial institutions is crucial, particularly regarding their interaction with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC).
