Bhutan’s national ID system is now based on Ethereum, enhancing services for approximately 800,000 residents. The migration, already in progress, is set to be completed by the first quarter of 2026.
The Ethereum Foundation’s President Aya Miyaguchi noted this integration is a groundbreaking first step towards secure digital identities, positioning Bhutan as a leader in cryptocurrency adoption.
