Binance’s 1.5 billion USD fine accounted for almost all of DOJ’s record-setting 2024

The U.S. Department of Justice registered a groundbreaking collection of 1.51 billion USD in 2024, predominantly due to Binance’s hefty 1.5 billion USD payment linked to the company’s significant compliance violations.

Following the infractions, Changpeng Zhao resigned from his role as CEO and faced a separate 50 million USD fine. Additionally, he received a four-month prison sentence, emphasizing the severity of the violations against U.S. Regulations.
