On May 8, 2025, the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) announced its decision to maintain interest rates at the current level of 4.25–4.5%. This marks the third consecutive time the Fed has kept rates unchanged.
The Fed is expected to implement only two rate cuts of 0.25% in 2025, likely in the second half of the year. Upcoming Fed meetings are scheduled for June, July, September, October, and December.
On Wednesday, traders foresaw a 28% chance that the Fed will cut rates at the conclusion of its June meeting, per CME FedWatch.
Following the Fed’s announcement, Bitcoin surged past $98,000 for the first time since late February. It is currently trading around $98,800, up approximately 29% over the past month.
